Pathshala Message

The Jain Sangh Pathshala of Cherry Hill (PA, NJ, and DE) recently started adult Pathshala for the interested parents and Sangh members. Over the last couple of years, there have been a great number of enthusiastic parents volunteering in various Pathshala activities. Pathshala coordinators thank these parents from the bottom of their heart and encourage them and also welcome new parents to keep this spirit alive in the future.

From 2007 to 2008, following activities have taken place in Pathshala: Kids performed a Snatra Puja for Diwali celebration and 51 khamasanas for Gyan Pacham; a Chaityavandan CD was made by the Sutra class teacher to help kids with their pronounciations; Youth group collected books and donated to local schools, they also made about 100 brown bag lunches for homeless; Caldwell pathshala visited us two weeks ago and were impressed; Pathshala activity reports were prepared by teachers and posted on the respective pathshala class doors. In August, a NJ Pathshala Teachers' meeting was held to have an open discussion and presentations between several NJ Pathshalas and following issues were emphasized: a) Teaching of Sutras - pronounciation, environment where it is taught, and taking care of distributing any learning aid (CD, cassette, MP3 files) to avoid Ashatna; b) Material on Jainism discussed with students; c) Comments on methods of delivering the material on Jainism (Audio Visual and multi-media presentations etc.); Problems faced at different Pathshalas and ideas were discussed to overcome these problems.

As lunch is served after each Pathshala class, we need parents to volunteer and help out in providing lunch for  
kids, teachers, and parents for the 3rd Sunday of the month only. The 1st Sunday is provided by the sponsor of the Monthly Pooja. Groups of (4 to 5) parents can come together and provide lunch.
